This month, RedMonk has named Swift the fastest growing programming language since it first started its ranking in 2011. Swift made it into the top 10 programming languages for the first time.
This is the shortest amount of time a programming language has ever broken into the top 10. It has effectively tied with Objective-C in RedMonk's ranking, given the history and the reliance on Objective-C in the most IOS apps. In a report done by Up work, Swift was also named one of the fastest growing skills. Up work has seen a rising demand for swift among its postings, and a growing number of users add Swift to their set of skills. Swift is becoming more and more popular each year.
